Fujifilm Synapse Mobility Enterprise Web Viewer is Granted Authority to Operate on DoD Networks

STAMFORD, CT – May 17, 2017 — FUJIFILM Medical Systems USA, Inc., a leading provider of diagnostic imaging products and medical informatics solutions, today announced that its Synapse Mobility Enterprise Web Viewer has been granted Authority to Operate (ATO) on networks in the US Department of Defense (DoD) The DoD awards an ATO according to a risk-based framework that analyzes a technology’s security controls within their IT environment.

“We are proud and gratified that Fujifilm’s Synapse Mobility Enterprise Viewer is now authorized for use at the US Department of Defense,” said Johann Fernando, Ph.D, Chief Operating Officer, FUJIFILM Medical Systems USA, Inc. “This ATO is a major accomplishment for Fujifilm and testifies to our ongoing commitment to bringing to market innovative technology that adheres to the most stringent security standards.”

After completing a thorough security assessment, the DoD determined that Synapse Mobility can be configured to meet its controls for Risk Management Framework. Specifically, Synapse Mobility can be configured to meet the DoD 8500 series and DISA STIG requirements.

DoD controls are customizable and implemented as part of an organization-wide process that manages information security and privacy risk. The controls address a diverse set of security and privacy requirements across the federal government and critical infrastructure, derived from legislation, Executive Orders, policies, directives, regulations, standards, and/or mission/business needs.

Fujifilm’s Synapse Mobility Enterprise Web Viewer utilizes the latest server-side rendering technology, allowing providers to securely and quickly view all patient imaging data to authorized users without downloading any patient data locally. The web viewer can be accessed directly via web browsers or launched directly from the secure EHR. It includes support for dual factor authentication via the Common Access Card (CAC), a zero-footprint DICOM and non-DICOM image and report viewer for the holistic patient record, a federated data search across disparate archives to present a single patient timeline, and a Share feature to launch other 3rd party integrations.

“With data breaches as a continued concern in the healthcare industry, there is no greater affirmation of Fujifilm’s dedication to risk mitigation and protecting sensitive information than a ‘green light’ from the DoD” said Bill Lacy, Vice President of Medical Informatics at FUJIFILM Medical Systems USA, Inc. “We view it as a vote of confidence in our company and trust in Fujifilm technology.”
